The 8-day Lemosho Route offers the best acclimatization profile on Kilimanjaro. The longer duration, gradual ascent, and "climb high, sleep low" principle significantly increase summit success rates (over 90%) while reducing altitude sickness risk. The extra day also allows you to enjoy the stunning scenery of the remote western approach without rushing.
The Lemosho Route begins on the remote western side of Kilimanjaro, traversing pristine rainforest, heath, and moorland zones with abundant wildlife. It offers panoramic views of the Shira Plateau, Mount Meru, and diverse landscapes not seen on other routes. The trail is less crowded, providing a true wilderness experience with spectacular photographic opportunities.
The best climbing seasons are January to mid-March and June to October. January-March offers clearer skies and lush vegetation but can be colder. June-October has drier conditions and excellent visibility. The Lemosho Route's western location sometimes experiences different weather patterns, making it a good choice when other routes might be crowded or less optimal.
