Migration Calendar & Additional Information

When is the best time to see the Great Migration in Serengeti?

The Great Migration is a year-round, circular movement. Key events: Jan-Mar - Calving season in Southern Serengeti (Ndutu area); Apr-May - Movement through Central/Western Serengeti (rainy season); Jun-Jul - Grumeti River crossings in Western Corridor; Aug-Oct - Mara River crossings in Northern Serengeti; Nov-Dec - Return to Southern Serengeti for calving. Each period offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities.

What types of accommodation are available in Serengeti?

We offer three accommodation tiers: Luxury Lodges (permanent structures with all amenities, swimming pools, fine dining); Tented Camps (semi-permanent with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, dining areas - our most popular option); and Mobile Camps (move with the migration, most authentic bush experience). All options provide safety, comfort, and incredible locations within the park.

Is Serengeti safe for families with children?

Absolutely! Serengeti is very family-friendly. We offer family-focused safaris with: child-appropriate game drive times, family suites/tents, child-friendly meals, guides experienced with families, and educational components about wildlife and conservation. The minimum age is typically 5+ for standard safaris, but we can customize private family itineraries. Many lodges have family rooms and some have swimming pools.
