Ascend through lush montane forest, home to black and white colobus monkeys and tropical birdlife.

Wake up around 1:00 AM for a light breakfast and begin your summit attempt under the stars.

Reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) at sunrise for breathtaking 360° views including Kilimanjaro towering in the distance.
Return to Saddle Hut for breakfast and a short rest before continuing the descent to Miriakamba Hut.
Reach Miriakamba Hut for a celebratory dinner and well-earned rest after your summit achievement.
Take the shorter northern route down through beautiful forest with chances to see more wildlife.

Mount Meru is the perfect acclimatization climb for Kilimanjaro. Spending 4 days ascending to 4,566m helps your body adapt to altitude, significantly increasing your chances of summiting Kilimanjaro. Many experienced climbers consider Meru an essential preparation climb. Additionally, Meru offers spectacular views of Kilimanjaro that you won't get from any other angle, making it a rewarding adventure in its own right.
Yes, absolutely. Mount Meru is within Arusha National Park which has significant populations of buffalo, elephants, and other potentially dangerous wildlife. The armed ranger is mandatory for all climbing groups and provides essential protection. Rangers are highly trained in wildlife behavior and park safety protocols. This unique aspect adds to the adventure and ensures your safety throughout the climb.
The best climbing seasons are June to October and December to February. These dry seasons offer clearer skies and better visibility for those spectacular Kilimanjaro views. March to May is the long rainy season with potentially slippery trails and obscured views. November sees short rains but can still be climbable. Meru is climbable year-round, but the dry seasons provide optimal conditions and better wildlife viewing opportunities.
